Julie HAUER

Born in 1979, Julie Hauer lives and works in Réunion Island.
Her abstract works explore inner landscapes that oscillate between a primordial chemical chaos and vast serene expanses where the infinitely small, the organic, blends with stellar voids. Her artworks aim neither to tell a story nor to depict a space, but rather to express the ineffable. They question how humans convey their relationship to metaphysics through these felt and lived spaces, as part of a poetic experience.

After studying law and working as a legal advisor, she fully devoted herself to painting in 2012. She spent two years in Asia immersing herself in the aesthetics and internal arts of Japan and China, before embarking on her own artistic research, which led her to develop her own mixed media techniques.

Back in France, she held her first solo exhibition in 2013 at Galerie Audet in Colmar, followed by a show at Galerie Claudia Geiser in Zurich in 2017. This was followed by solo and group exhibitions in Nice, Réunion Island, Italy, and Paris.

In 2020, Julie Hauer spent three months in residence at Villa Palmerino in Florence, Italy. She was selected by AWA (Advancing Women Artists) to showcase a selection of her works at the Uffizi Gallery in Florence as part of the Garzoni Project in May 2020.

In September 2021, her paintings were exhibited at the Stella Matutina Museum in Réunion Island. In 2022, for her first solo show in Paris titled Éloge du Chaos (In Praise of Chaos), she exhibited at JBF Gallery on rue de Miromesnil. Her works are now part of numerous private collections in Switzerland, Sweden, Brazil, France, and Germany.

VLFineart’s vision
Julie explores two distinct series in her recent work: one, entropic and chaotic, where matter and color interact freely on wood; and the other, more refined, where the depth of monochrome creates a contemplative atmosphere.
